Accessories: Head Scarves Update

Two beautiful head scarves for a friend. The purple one is made by large and medium size beads, randomly sewn on top of light purple polyester felt, covering 3/4 of the head scarf.

The three buttoned-roses head scarf looked lovely to me. I used yellow, peach and blue pastel color to highlight the nature of women, and no-hole glow button on the center to give a glamour look to the roses. Made it while watching my current favorite Korean drama, Scent Of A Woman *wink*.

Enough with the teddy bear, I made Balqis to pose with the head scarf. She was busy exploring the iPod she didn't even notice.

More designs to come this new year. Stay tuned!

Soft Toy: Astro Remote Control... again..

I've been sewing and stitching the two soft Astro B.yond look-alike remote for two days in-a-row, considering the household chores and nursing my little girl in the list. Well, I can make them in a day without any disturbance *smile*.

These two are made upon orders from my online customers. They are 100% handmade, using grey polyester felt and wool yarn, and tightly sewn small buttons to represent numbers and other functional buttons.

Having problem with children who likes to hold and bite the real remote, this soft remote might be one of your solution. Now you can watch TV with ease!

Accessories: Fancy Head Scarves

Aren't they fancy? I love bright colors, because it shows the me inside me. They are just a bunch of head scarves, the motives are 100% handmade by no other than me. The head scarves themselves are available in assorted colors with teeth (good for itchy scalp *wink*), namely blue, red, pink, yellow, orange, white and black, with various width e.g. thin or thick.

Here an up-close of the colorful scarves, with more patterns and motives are coming your way:

A friend of mine asked me to make a bead head scarf, and I came up with my version:

I also do a full hair accessories set which include a head scarf, a pair of hair clips, a head band and/or a brooch, like this one below:

A touch of a head accessory can really add to your personality though. :-)

Tutorial: Make your Own Shelf Back Cover

I just bought an Expedit bookcase from Ikea, it was a plain white shelves with no back cover. Looked empty, isn' it? It would be a blast if we add some color to it. You just need:

And so the project began without further delay.

1) Measure the area of one shelf. Cut box according to the measurement. Cut fabric a little bigger than the box.
2) Stick the fabric onto the box using cellotape.
3) It will look like this (Ignore the wrinkles, you should iron them first!)
4) Use stapler gun to stick the box onto the back of the shelf. Alternatively, you can use double-sided tape if the gun is not in your toolbox.
5) Tadaa!! You are done!
I did 4 back covers (two stripes, two polka-dot), alternate shelf. I did step 2 while sitting and chatting with my husband. Quite a leisure thing to do, isn't it?

Now my Expedit bookcase has a brand new look:

Sorry for the picture quality. I didn't have the chance to decorate more for this purpose, Balqis the troublemaker always want to keep them disordered *sigh*. Notice that the lower shelves were her space.

p/s: The flattened box used here was originally from the Expedit packaging itself. Recycle is the way of life!

Happy trying!!

Felt Bag

Ideal to put your stationery or cosmetics stuffs or whatever you feels like it, this 5" x 9" felt bag is made by polyester felt and 100% handmade. You can call it a bag or a pouch. I prefer bag.

This is my first felt bag made for my husband. It is big enough to store his 10 pens, a marker, a stapler, two erasers and two highlighters.

On the inside, I put a cotton lining as the inner to cover up the messy thread from the circles motives. I stitched along the zip and the bag using green embossed thread.

Below are two more felt bags I made for my friends. Wool yarn is used to stitch around the bags.

Purple bag
I added a thin soft padding for the purple one hence the puffy look.

Soft Toy: TV Remote Control

I made this TV remote as a special request from a friend, which her son always hold and bite the real TV remote control. Sounds funny but that is what children do. My daughter also used to hold and throw my remote and as a result, one TV channel disappeared and cannot be tuned anymore *sigh*. By then, I never thought that making a remote control look alike as a soft toy would be a better solution.

I made the remote as similar as possible to Astro B.Yond's (because that is the only remote I have at home). I used small black buttons to represent the numbers, and red, blue, green and yellow to match the color buttons. The remote is 100% hand-sewn and I used grey and black polyester felt to match the real remote color. I stitch around the remote using grey wool yarn, with patience.

After I successfully finished making one, I tested the product on my little daughter. Apparently, it works! She thought that it was a real TV remote and keep pressing the button. She must be wondering why the TV won't change the channel like it used to.

Balqis is being manipulated

If the product works on my girl, it must have works on other kids too *relieved*. If your child likes remotes so much, this soft remote is surely can help you. I can custom a remote according to yours if you want to *wink*.

Soft Toy: Sneaky SSSchnake

The snake with polka-dot design was originally made for my precious daughter. The spelling 'SSSchnake' is so adorable that appropriate for little toddlers, and the three 'S's represent the hissing sound from a real snake.

It is a soft toy ideal for kids and toddlers. It is a snake that cannot harm you. The size is approximately 6 inch in diameter, 100% sewn by hand and is made using polyester felt.

Size comparison

I accept custom made order for this adorable schnake, like the stripe one below for my friend's little boy. Its body has the color of yellow at the upper and green belly underneath, with colorful stripes to complete its pattern.

Adopt a schnake now. It is also a perfect gift to pamper your kids and I am sure they'll love it!
Feel free to contact me for order details.

P/S: Coiling is the design. It cannot be straightened.
