iPod Case for Balqis

This is not for Balqis, daughter of mine. This iPod case is for the other Balqis, my husband's friend's daughter. Can you get it? 

I used navy blue felt as the base and turquoise felt for her name (how I love turquoise!), and turquoise wool yarn for the stitching. A cute car applique is sewn at the back of the case.

 

For the inside, I used matching blue polka-dot as the inner lining with soft padding in between for extra protection against the screen.

Soft Toy: Vegetables

This vegetables version of my handmade soft toy is ideal for toddlers especially girls who are like to messy up your kitchen cabinet, taking out all the tupperwares and tools, and pretend to cook. My daughter did. 


This is the first version, I sew it for my daughter. It looked a bit amateur to me, not as neat as I expected to be. It consists of 10 veges that we always eat everyday: a carrot, radish, chilly, mushroom, yellow pepper, sweet pea, potato, tomato, cabbage and an egg plant. See here for my first attempt of vege soft toy.

Don't underestimate me yet! I've done better the second time! It was for my friend's daughter. This time, I added volume to those veges, meaning more fluffy and larger veges. Believe me, try to compare the space left between the veges at the above pic and this one (inside the same pot): 

There are still 10 vegetables but I replaced yellow pepper with Japanese cucumber, and upgrade the look of my cabbage.

More neat than my first attempt, don't they? 

Soft Toy: Sneaky SSSnake Zig Zag Stripe

Another version in the house! It is striped, and it is zig zag!

As usual, 100% handmade, sewn by me using polyester felt, with polyester fiber as their stuffing.


The yellow one has dark blue belly and the blue snake's purple. I forgot to snap pictures of their belly. My bad!

And they like to coil too!

Soft Toy: Mobile Phone

Soft mobile phone it is, for kids and toddlers like my daughter. She likes to pretend talking to the phone, so I made this for her (the blue one). The red phone is for my friend.


 I know it is not an up-to-date version as smart phones nowadays, but I think children should know the appearance of an old mobile phone, with thick antenna, small screen, big speaker and the normal 123 buttons.

I add a camera at the back, well, at least it follows to the current trend.

iPod Case for Mama Abby

I used Belkin leather case since I had my iPod in 2010, but lately, the case grew fungus. Yuckss!! Maybe it's about time for me to replace a new one. Here it is:

It's for me, so I just used scrap felt from the remaining balance of felt. I want to make it colorful, hence the pink color base, green wool yarn stitching, and colorful star, love and ribbon buttons. Notice the pink lines that intersect each other, I machine-sewn them. The name 'Nabila' tells that the iPod is mine :-)

I used peach polka-dot cotton as the inner, with a layer of soft padding for an extra protection. It fits the iPod perfectly, it grips.

Now my old iPod has a brand new case. I like!

Angry Birds!!

I got a friend who is crazy about Angry Birds, she even asked me to make five Angry Birds brooches for her, the angry red bird, the speedy yellow, the boom black, the white hen and the blue one. She is my best buddy I couldn't say 'No'. 

The Angry Birds family was 100% hand-sewn, using polyester felt, stuffed with polyester fiber. Well, here they are:

They were a bit smaller than my palm, yet a little bigger than a 50 cent coin.

Cutting the eyes was the hardest thing to do. They were so tiny I had to hold the black felt using my nail while cutting. It was such a relieve that the eyes do not squint *fuh*.

Accessories: Head Scarves Update

Two beautiful head scarves for a friend. The purple one is made by large and medium size beads, randomly sewn on top of light purple polyester felt, covering 3/4 of the head scarf. 

The three buttoned-roses head scarf looked lovely to me. I used yellow, peach and blue pastel color to highlight the nature of women, and no-hole glow button on the center to give a glamour look to the roses. Made it while watching my current favorite Korean drama, Scent Of A Woman *wink*.

Enough with the teddy bear, I made Balqis to pose with the head scarf. She was busy exploring the iPod she didn't even notice.
